Sustainability and Climate Action
Environmental sustainability is a crucial part of maintaining the wellbeing of our planet and future generations. The City of Milpitas has taken several strides to increase sustainability in City operations in order to enhance quality of life and ensure public health, safety, and resilience in our community.
To support our commitment to sustainability, the City adopted the Climate Action Plan Update in 2022, which lays out near- and long-term strategies for reducing communitywide Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and meeting state and worldwide climate goals.
The Climate Action Plan outlines some key action areas for residents to focus on to reduce GHG emissions and incorporate sustainability in their lifestyles, such as: electrifying buildings and homes, carpooling and electrifying public transit and personal vehicles, conserving water, and reducing solid waste by recycling and composting. Explore this page to discover resources to help you focus on these key action areas and make choices that are good for you and the environment.
