Beautify Milpitas
The following City-sponsored programs are available to help Beautify Milpitas. A cleaner community improves our overall quality of life. There are many ways to Beautify Milpitas, our community, and your home.
Lend-A-Tool Program
Milpitas residents, businesses, property owners, and community groups are able to borrow select tools from the available inventory for free. A wide variety of hand and gardening tools are available for temporary use. The full list of the inventory is available; view the Lend-A-Tool Shed Inventory (PDF).
Follow these 2 simple steps to select and borrow tools:
- Complete and submit our online request form: Tools Request Form (the included Liability Waiver (PDF) must be digitally signed and submitted with the request form).
- Call 408-586-2600 to schedule a pick up time.
- Return the tools within 2 weeks or otherwise risk suspension of borrowing rights.

Graffiti Terminators
Tired of Graffiti in Your Neighborhood? The City of Milpitas needs your help! Become a Volunteer Graffiti Terminator today! All paint and equipment will be supplied. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Please call Milpitas Volunteer Services at 408-586-3209 or the Graffiti Hotline 408-586-3079.
Graffiti removal kits are available for your use and can be borrowed through the Lend-A-Tool program (see borrowing instructions in the Lend-A-Tool section). Each kit comes with a tote bag containing safety glasses, gloves, graffiti removal solution, and rags.
Litter Pick up Kits
If you'd like to beautify your neighborhood by picking up litter, we have litter pick up kits available for you to borrow through the Lend-A-Tool program (see borrowing instructions in the Lend-A-Tool section). Each kit comes with a litter pick up stick and a tote bag containing trash and recycling bags and gloves.
Beautify Milpitas Community Events
The Milpitas Volunteer Program, run through the Recreation and Community Services Department, coordinates monthly parks beautification clean ups throughout Milpitas. Volunteers help clean up parks by picking up litter and debris. For more information about how to get involved, visit Milpitas Volunteer Program.
Garbage Container Collection Service for Disabled Persons
If you have difficulty moving your solid waste containers to the curb for pick-up and back out of public view due to a disability, the City offers backyard garbage, recycling and yard waste collection service at no extra cost. To obtain an application, please call Milpitas Sanitation at 408-988-4500 or visit the Milpitas Sanitation website.
Housing Rehabilitation Loan Program
The City uses Federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to provide loans at 0% or 3% interest rates and up to 90% equity to qualified low and very-low income homeowners. This program is for extensive home repairs with the goal of beautifying the City's neighborhoods through the conservation of existing housing stock. Vehicle Abatement Program
The City is currently receiving temporary funding from the Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Service Authority (AVASA) for removal of abandoned, dismantled, and/or inoperative vehicles from private property free of charge. Please call 408-586-3078 for more information.
