This inventory is flexible and includes a diversity of building types and sizes, which can accommodate businesses in need of different types of spaces. About 6.5 million square feet of warehouse and distribution space currently exists in Milpitas. 

While Milpitas’ resident population is nearly 82,000 people, the city’s daytime population exceeds 100,000 people. Daytime population represents people entering or leaving a community for work, entertainment, shopping, and other needs during the typical workday between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

Milpitas is a jobs rich community with nearly 50,000 jobs with an annual average salary of $102,850,  and 41,400 employed residents. Forty-Four businesses employ 100 or more workers with the three largest employers in Milpitas being Cisco Systems KLA and Western Digital. Other major employers include Amazon, BD Biosciences, Flex LTD, TDK Headway Technologies, and Milpitas Unified School District. Several of these top employers have made Milpitas their corporate headquarters.

Milpitas has a large and diverse offering of retail stores and restaurants, mostly concentrated in suburban-style shopping centers. Milpitas has more than feet 5 million square of retail, of which three quarters is located in retail centers of different sizes and trade areas featuring an ethnically diverse array of retailers and restaurants.
