Rediscover Main Street: Main Street Sense of Place Plan

Project Overview

The City of Milpitas has launched the Main Street Sense of Place Plan, also known asRediscover Main Street Website Graphic Rediscover Main Street, to reimagine and revitalize the heart of our community. Building on the recommendations and framework in the Gateway-Main Street Specific Plan, this effort will create a vibrant, people-centered destination that celebrates Main Street's unique identity and positions it for a thriving future.

The Plan will establish a new vision for Main Street—from Weller Lane to Great Mall Parkway, with a focus on the area between Calaveras Boulevard and Curtis Avenue— by developing design concepts that thoughtfully rebalance the right-of-way to create a safer, more accessible, and people-focused corridor for pedestrians, cyclists, and all users.

The project launched in December 2024 and is anticipated to be completed by Summer 2026. Throughout the process, the City is committed to ensuring community involvement, with multiple opportunities for residents, local businesses, and key community stakeholders to help shape the future of Main Street.
