Cardoza Park Softball Field Improvements
Help Design New Fields at Cardoza Park!
Cardoza Park is a 10-acre community park in Milpitas popular for events and various recreation activities. It currently includes playground, restroom, picnic areas, one full-size, lighted baseball/softball field, and two parking lots.
The purpose of the Cardoza Park Softball Field Improvements project is to expand opportunities for softball play at Cardoza Park to meet the current and future needs of the community.
About the Project
The project considers and builds upon the recommendations included in the comprehensive City of Milpitas Parks and Recreation Master Plan (2021). Softball in Milpitas had previously been played on local school district sites; however, due to bond improvements, the softball community lost access to these fields. Through the Parks and Recreation Master Plan process, Cardoza Park was identified as a suitable site to create a permanent home for softball in Milpitas.
Design options and recommendations for the Cardoza Park Soft Ball Field Improvements project will address a variety of factors, including field amenities, condition, size, layout, and overall atmosphere. The goal is to provide features that enhance the softball experience for players, coaches, families, and fans while creating a valuable public recreation resource for the City of Milpitas.

Get Involved
We want to hear from you! The success of the project relies on community involvement to identify the design priorities and inform the final plan to serve softball field users at Cardoza Park.
Through a series of virtual and in-person community activities, including pop-up events, public meetings, surveys, and more, our project team will collaborate with the community at each step of the planning process and collect valuable feedback along the way.
Share your ideas to enhance softball at Cardoza Park! You can review preliminary field design concepts and vote for your favorite options by participating in one of the upcoming outreach activities which will be announced later.
Outreach Plan Process & Timeline
Community feedback on the park options and recommendations is an important part of the design process. This community-driven approach will help to determine best possible plan and allow the softball community at Cardoza Park to thrive for many years to come.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Why is it important to improve softball fields at Cardoza Park?
A: Since losing access to local school district fields due to bond improvements, the Milpitas softball community has been temporarily playing on other fields in the City. The development of new fields at Cardoza Park will address important needs for improved softball amenities and provide a permanent home for softball in Milpitas.
Q: How long will this project last?
A: The overall projected design concept timeline for this project is approximately 18 months. The project began in early 2024 with site assessments and a feasibility study. Concept development and community engagement will occur in the spring/summer of 2024, and the development of the final conceptual design is expected by spring/summer 2025. The implementation phase will begin following the completion of the design.
Q: What is being done to make sure the community is being heard?
A: All community voices have value, and a successful project relies on hearing these voices. To facilitate open, inclusive community involvement, outreach activities are scheduled to occur at convenient times using a variety of styles and formats. Project messaging and materials are provided in multiple languages to encourage participation from as many community members as possible. The input collected during the outreach process will be thoughtfully considered and inform the development of the final design.
