Built in 1834, Milpitas' oldest home now offers the public a unique glimpse into local history, with small group tours that include an immersive A/V presentation showing the area's transformation from a native Muwekma tribal settlement to modern-day Milpitas. Milpitas Historical Society-trained docents lead tours including the Alviso Adobe's original three rooms, 1930s kitchen addition and historic outbuildings and landscaping. Learn more about the building's history on the Milpitas Historical Society's web site.
Public tours are offered on the second Saturday afternoon of each month. Reservations are strongly recommended, but drop-in guests may join public tours if space is available. We also offer field trips and private tours for groups of six or more. Weather permitting, we can customize your tour with family-friendly, history-inspired outdoor activities, such as games or crafts.
Visitors are welcome to enjoy a picnic lunch in the park. Alviso Adobe Park has a small picnic area, seating about 50 people. Park amenities, including picnic areas and restrooms, are open to the public. We do not accept reservations for exclusive use of the picnic area on second Saturdays. If you have a larger group and would like a private tour on a different day, please ask. Parking is limited. Reserve bus space, plan to carpool, or walk from a nearby location. Bus route 47 is the closest drop-off, about a 20-minute walk from the park.
