Milpitas residents and visitors are invited to tour Milpitas’ historic Alviso Adobe to learn more about local history. Small group tours of 12-15 allow for a more immersive experience. Reservations are strongly recommended, but drop-in guests may join tours if space is available.
Second Saturday Afternoons at the Adobe include:
- Entertaining A/V presentation covers native Muwekma tribal settlements to modern day
- Kitchen decorated to show daily life in the 1930s
- Milpitas Historical Society-trained docents available for informal history talks, Q & A
- Self-guided walk among historic outbuildings and landscaping
- Family-friendly, history-inspired outdoor activities, such as games or crafts (Weather permitting)
Visitors are welcome to enjoy a picnic lunch in the park. Alviso Adobe Park has a small picnic area, seating about 50 people. Park amenities, including picnic areas and restrooms, are open to the public. We do not accept reservations for exclusive use of the picnic area on second Saturdays. If you have a larger group and would like a private tour on a different day, please ask.
Parking is limited. Reserve bus space, plan to carpool or walk from a nearby location. Bus routes 47 is the closest drop off, about a 20-minute walk from the park.
