Bicycle Improvement Project

The Bicycle Improvement Project, with a primary focus on safety, will deliver upgrades to bicycle facilities. These upgrades, which include closing gaps in the existing network, will significantly reduce traffic stress and encourage cycling. Improvements will be made along Abel Street, Main Street, and North Milpitas Boulevard, identified as high-priority corridors in the City’s 2022 Trail, Pedestrian, and Bicycle Master Plan. These routes provide essential connections to the historic downtown on Main Street, nearby schools, and key crossings over railroad tracks and creeks. Planned upgrades include buffered bike lanes (Class IIB), bike routes (Class III), cycle tracks (Class IV), green bike lanes at areas where bicycles and vehicles intersect, new pavement markings and striping, and the installation of signage.
