Milpitas Youth Force (MYF)

About the Program

The Milpitas Youth Force (MYF) is an 8-week summer workforce program that provides high school-aged Milpitas residents job opportunities, valuable work experience, and transferable skills to everyday life. The goal of MYF is to provide Milpitas teens, ages 15-18, the opportunity to enter the workforce successfully and confidently by providing new opportunities, goal setting, hands-on exposure, breaking down barriers, and career skill building. The program also provides participants a minimum wage hourly rate for their time working in the program, paid for by the City!

Participants are hired by the City and matched with a participating business. The City will pay for the wages of all participants. Participants work up to 15 hours per week and receive weekly training and mentoring from City staff and feedback and guidance from employers. Participants are provided a work clothes stipend to purchase appropriate work attire and use of the City’s Simple Mobile Access to Reliable Transit program (SMART). At the conclusion of the program, both participants and businesses will be part of exit interviews and surveys.

Selected candidates will be offered an interview. Interviews will take place on one of the following dates: May 8, May 10, and May 12. Interviews will typically be conducted in the afternoon. City staff will contact candidates via email no later than Thursday, May 4 end-of-day to schedule interviews.

Student and Business Applications are due no later than Wednesday, May 3, 2023, or once spots are filled.
