Who will be eligible to participate?

• Milpitas residents participate in several eligible assistance programs.
• Milpitas residents earning at or below HUD's latest Low Income limit for the area
• Milpitas residents are experiencing temporary financial difficulties.

Clients who participate in eligible support programs or youth in the Foster Care or Juvenile Dependency system will be in Tier 1. Others whose income is at or below HUD's Low Income Limit for Santa Clara County (see chart above) will be in Tier 2. Individuals and families experiencing temporary financial hardship due to job loss, loss of key workers, serious illness, or government shutdown will fall under Tier 3.

What discount is applied?

• Tier 1 - Eligible customers receive a 75% discount on City-sponsored Entertainment programs up to $1000 per household; a moderate discount on water bills every two months; and a waiver of residence permit fees if you need to install a new heater, heater or air conditioner. Tier 1 customers are also allowed to pay in installments for Entertainment programs based on the payment plan.
• Tier 2 - Eligible customers receive a 50% discount on City-sponsored Entertainment programs up to $750 per household; a moderate discount on water bills every two months; and a 75% discount on residence permit fees if you need to install a new heater, heater or air conditioner. Tier 2 customers are also allowed to pay in installments for Entertainment programs based on the payment plan.
• Tier 3 - Eligible customers receive a 75% discount on City-sponsored Entertainment programs up to $750 per household; and a 75% discount on residence permit fees if you need to install a new heater, heater or air conditioner. Tier 3 customers are also allowed to pay in installments for Entertainment programs and water bills based on the payment plan. The City of Milpitas will waive late payment fees for water bills incurred during the time you qualify as a Tier 3 customer.

HOW TO APPLY THE PROGRAM?

Income-eligible Milpitas residents can save up to $1900 on City of Milpitas fees for recreation programs, water bills and wastewater treatment as well as permits to replace heaters, heaters and air conditioners in their homes.
