Michael Thomas joined the City of Milpitas in 2022. In his role, he assists in the development, monitoring, and implementation of the City's economic development program including retaining existing businesses, attracting new businesses and performing outreach and marketing to promote Milpitas as a business destination. Michael develops, implements and manages various economic development programs and plans including storefront improvement grants and microenterprise grants, and Innovation District branding. He creates and publishes marketing content to inform local businesses and the public of programs and activities offered by the City. He also serves as a liaison to the Economic Development and Trade Commission.
Before joining the City of Milpitas, Michael served more than six years with the City of Campbell's City Manager's Office and Economic Development Division. Michael earned a Master of Public Administration and Bachelor of Science in broadcast journalism from San Jose State University.
