The City of Milpitas' workforce development partner NOVAworks offers free layoff assistance information sessions. In partnership with the California Employment Development Department, these free one-hour information sessions inform individuals about job search and career transition including:
- Filing for unemployment insurance
- Certifying weekly unemployment insurance benefits
- Registering for a Covered California healthcare plan
- Support, coaching and training needed to return to work
