UPDATE @11 am: All water has been restored to affected customers. Residents are advised to flush their lines for a few minutes, although there is no health concern. The northbound lanes on South Abel Street between Centria Lane and Great Mall Parkway remain closed. Please avoid the area as crews continue work on the pipe repair.
UPDATE @ 8:30 am: Last night at approximately 6:30 pm, a water pipe leak occurred on South Abel Street between Centria Lane and Great Mall Parkway. Public Works crews and emergency contractor crews have been working throughout the night and as of 8:30 am this morning, they were able to isolate the leak. Crews will now be able to keep appropriate valves closed and gradually restore water to non-impacted areas. Water to The Pines neighborhood will be restored shortly. Once the exact valves for shutoff are known, crews can more accurately assess the situation and provide an update on the repair needed and estimated time for full restoration.
The City’s Public Works Department crews are actively working on a water pipe leak on Abel Street between Centria Lane and Great Mall Parkway. The leak is causing low water pressure to some residents and others have been shut off entirely as crews work to isolate the section of the pipe. The northbound lanes on Abel Street between Centria and Great Mall Parkway have been closed due to flooding. As soon as the pipe section as been isolated, crews may begin the repair and restoration process. While there is no estimated time of restoration, crews and City contractors are working as quickly as possible to expedite the repair. This is unrelated to any PG&E Public Safety Power Shutdown.
