Milpitas’ Barbara Lee Senior Center – named for a former Milpitas Councilmember and advocate for seniors – is a bright, beautiful building with a welcoming staff and lively atmosphere. It draws a steady age 50+ crowd for daytime fitness, art and enrichment classes, presentations and special events, a popular lunch program, fitness center and friendly competition at the ping pong, pool and board game tables. Senior Center Membership is required for most programs.
In the late afternoon, the building doubles as our Teen Center, providing a safe space to socialize, spread out and do homework with friends, take enrichment classes and work out.
Built in 2010, the Senior Center’s amenities include a large auditorium with adjacent full-service catering kitchen, an art room, dance studio, fitness center, two game rooms, three classrooms, social services resource area and a comfortable lounge area with for reading, television and socializing. On weekends and evenings, the auditorium and classrooms are available for rent for family events, club activities and other community events.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have temporarily halted programming and rentals at this facility. Please check back when Public Health Orders restricting gatherings are lifted.
