Milpitas Youth Force

Milpitas Recreation and Community Services partners with other City departments and local businesses to offer high school-aged Milpitas residents, ages 15-18, valuable paid work experience and connections in a career path of interest.

Students work 5-10 hours per week over a period of 8 weeks and receive career skills coaching to successfully and confidently enter enter the workforce. Participating employers contribute to workforce development of potential future employees and benefit from an infusion of youthful energy and fresh ideas.

The 2022 program runs June 13-August 5. Deadline to apply for this year’s program is April 29, 2022, with interviews the week of May 2, 2022. Please note, all students must submit an application and participate in interviews. Space is limited. Submission of an application does not guarantee a spot in the program. Only students “hired” by a participating business will be enrolled in the Milpitas Youth Force (MYF) summer program.

In addition to the experience of lifetime, this year’s MYF participants will also receive:

  • Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) Pass, valid for the months of June-August, along with training on how to effectively use public transportation
  • Work clothing stipend to purchase work-appropriate attire at a Milpitas clothing store, along with training on how to dress professionally and shop within a budget
