Memorial Day

The City of Milpitas honors Milpitas residents who died while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces with a heartfelt Memorial Day Ceremony in our beautiful Veterans Plaza, located between City Hall and the Milpitas Community Center.  Our ceremony is always held at 9 a.m. on Memorial Day, the last Monday in May. It is hosted by members of the Veterans Commission, and includes local performers and organizations paying tribute.

Our 2021 Virtual Memorial Day Ceremony will air on Youtube beginning May 31, 9 a.m.

  • Keynote speech by Col. Jeffrey Waldman, commander of the Air National Guard 129th Rescue Wing
  • Performances by the Milpitas Community Concert Band and local singer Paula Huss and guitar player John Huss
  • Salutes by the Milpitas Police Department and the fourth degree Knights of Columbus, St. Joseph Assembly 2246.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, due to Public Health Orders limiting gatherings, Memorial Day Ceremonies will be held virtually.
