COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) Application Period Open

Funding for FY 2023-2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the application period for Community Development Block Grant will open Monday, January 16, 2023 and will close Friday, February 17, 2023. 

The City of Milpitas receives CDBG funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for a variety of public services, activities and housing programs. CDBG funding are dispersed to selected programs based on feasibility and priorities set by the City Council, some of the past programs include: seniors services, youth services, homeless shelters, child care services, battered women sheltering/services, code enforcement, home repair/rehabilitation, affordable housing, rental apartment rehabilitation, and historic preservation.

INTERESTED PERSONS MAY apply by downloading the application under the Housing portion of the City of Milpitas’ website (https://www.milpitas.gov/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/CDBG-Simplified-Application-FY23-24.pdf) or email address below for an application. All applications must be emailed to the Department of Building Safety and Housing at 455 E. Calaveras Blvd., Milpitas, CA 95035 no later than Friday, February 17, 2023.

Federal Program | Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)

The City of Milpitas’ Housing Department and City Council awards funding to local non-profit agencies that serve the Milpitas community through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. Non-profits that help to improve physical, economic, and social conditions to low- and moderate- income Milpitas residents are encouraged to apply.

Agencies may be awarded a Grant based upon the target population and services they provide. Eligible non-profit organizations and projects should meet one of three National Objectives, as identified by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). These Objectives include:

  • Benefit Low and/or Moderate Income Persons
  • Prevention or Elimination of Slums and Blight
  • Urgent Need

Additionally, the City of Milpitas has prepared and adopted a Three-Year Consolidated Plan (2022-2025) to establish priorities for the use of CDBG grant funds in order to benefit and improve the lives of Milpitas Residents. Organizations whose goals and services align with the priorities of the City will be prioritized for selection and funding.
