Road Closures for MHS Football Parade
The Milpitas Police Department will be present at the MHS football state championship parade. To ensure the safety of those involved during the parade, Escuela Pkwy will be closed between Washington Dr. and Cirolero St. from approximately 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, February 1.
The closure will include all surface streets and driveways along the parade route. Officers will assist residents who live in the parade route with exiting the area safely should they need to leave their homes. The roadway will be re-opened once those participating in the parade arrive at their final location, Milpitas High School.
Voting in the California Primaries
Tuesday, March 3, 2020 is Primary Election Day here in Milpitas and across the state of California. For the first time in Santa Clara County, all registered voters will receive a primary ballot in the postal mail from the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters. There will no longer be any neighborhood polling places as in prior elections. Instead, there are going to be four brand new “Vote Centers” located across Milpitas at these locations:
- Pioneer Mobile Home Park 60 Wilson Way, Milpitas, CA 95035
- Milpitas Library 160 N Main St, Milpitas, CA 95035
- San Jose Evergreen Community College-Milpitas Extension 1450 Escuela Pkwy. Milpitas, CA 95035
- John Sinnott Elementary School 2025 Yellowstone Ave, Milpitas, CA 95035
Participating voters may drop off completed ballots in signed envelopes at the Vote Centers, or drop completed ballots into a box in the City Hall main lobby, or into a drive-by drop box at Milpitas Library, or return them in the US postal mail (no postage needed). Ballots will begin to be mailed out on February 10 and must be returned by March 3.
Voters who prefer to vote in person, and not on their mailed ballot, may visit the Vote Centers at the time they are open, including the weekend prior to Election Day.

Milpitas City Council Approves New 38-unit Single-Family Housing Development
A new single-family home infill development is coming to northern Milpitas. A short hop north of Jacklin Road, the 4.88- acre site bordering North Park Victoria Drive will welcome 38 new two-story households, including 34 market rate homes and four affordable below-market-rate homes. This is the first development of its kind in Milpitas to feature purpose-built accessory dwelling units – a flexible type of smaller-scale housing, intended to be affordable by design. The new project, incorporating neighborhood and community feedback, will replace vacant land with a thoughtfully-designed development sensitive to the layout of the existing neighborhood.
The site design is outward looking, with 18 of the homes fronting onto existing neighborhood streets. This orientation will integrate the new homes into the existing neighborhood and offer an attractive new residential street frontage along North Park Victoria Drive. The design and architecture of the homes is meant to be respectful of the character of neighboring homes and will feature a mixture of Spanish and Craftsman styles with concrete tile roofs and facades in varying earth tone colors.
The development brings with it new infrastructure, including the widening of Creed Street and Rankin Drive, 31 new on-street public parking spaces and new sidewalks and landscape strips edging the site. The project also introduces a welcome addition to the area’s parks in the form of a publicly-accessible “Tot Lot” intended for children ages five to 12 years old. Construction is anticipated to begin in Summer 2020.
