The City of Milpitas Veterans Commission is providing this information for the benefit of all U.S. Veterans and their eligible family members who live in Milpitas. However, we welcome all members of the public to view our website and invite you to avail yourselves of this information.

We regret that we are not able to list all agencies and organizations that exist to help veterans. There are simply too many and our space is limited. However, most, if not all, of the agencies listed will link to other agencies, sites and resources where you may continue your search for information.

Federal Government Agencies

    Assistance for qualified combat veterans. Maintains and administers most National Cemeteries, applications for burial and internment, etc.

  • TRICARE
    Department of Defense medical information and services for eligible military retirees and their families.
  • United States Department of Veterans Affairs
    The primary federal agency for all veteran affairs. It has three major divisions: Veterans Health Administration, Veterans Benefit Administration, and the National Cemetery Administration.
  • Veterans Health Administration
    Health care and medical treatment.
  • Veterans Benefit Administration
    Examines and adjudicates all VA compensation, pension, GI Bill, education and training, death and burial, and other benefit claims.
  • VA National Cemetery Administration
    Maintains and administers most National Cemeteries, applications for burial and internment, etc.

State of California

California Department of Veterans Affairs provides certain benefits for veterans residing in California. Can also represent veterans with their claims before the U.S. Veterans Benefit Administration.

Non-Government Organizations

A directory of veteran service organizations can be found here.

This directory lists many organizations, such as the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and others. Local chapters of these organizations can be found by clicking on "County Veterans Organizations" on the Santa Clara County Veteran Service Office website.

In addition, several of these organizations maintain offices in the Oakland Federal Building that are staffed by veteran service officers and representatives to help with claims applications and to provide advice on VA benefits.
