Description

The Housing Division develops and implements policies and programs to create affordable housing, assists vulnerable residents, enhances unhoused and supportive services for the community, and administers the City’s Affordable Housing Ordinance and Community Development Block Grant programs.

Services

  • Administer the City’s Rent and Mortgage Relief Program to aid residents who are at risk of eviction. 
  • Conduct outreach events and workshops in partnership with regional nonprofits to communicate with and serve Milpitas’ vulnerable population. 
  • Monitor the City's Below Market Rate homeownership and rental program.
  • Identify or coordinate funding sources for affordable housing development and preservation.
  • Manage the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program to serve low- and moderate-income residents through public services, capital projects, and fair housing services. 
  • Assist unhoused residents via the mobile shower/ laundry program, homeless outreach, assessment, and street-based case management services with the Santa Clara County Office of Supportive Housing
